IceCaps End 2013 on Losing Note

The St. John’s IceCaps finished 2013 on a losing note as they dropped their final game of the year to the Springfield Falcons by a score of 4-2.

After the first period of play, the IceCaps and the Falcons headed into the dressing room tied at a 1-1. The St. John’s IceCaps jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the second period when the IceCaps Mouillierat scrored on a goal that was assisted by Cormier. The Falcons responded late in the period quickly, scoring its second goal on the powerplay after St. John’s defenceman Zach Redmond was assessed a 2-minute minor for roughing at the end of the second period. The second period ended deadlocked at 2-2.

The third period saw the Falcons quickly jump out to a 3-2 lead when they scored at 1:18 of the period on a goal credit to JF Jaques as an attempted pass was deflected off Jacque’s foot and into the net behind the IceCaps netminder Eddie Pasquale.

The Falcons rounded out the scoring late in the third period, sealing the victory and giving them a record of 22-5-5 for the season.

The IceCaps head home to start an eight game home stand as they drive towards the playoffs as it struggles to hold the last playoff position in their divicion.
