The Newfoundland Senior Hockey League (NLSHL) is scheduled to resume with the second half of the season starting Friday, January 3rd, 2014 as the Eastlink CeeBee Stars are in Mount Pearl to take on the Mount?Pearl H J Bartlett Electric Blades at 7:30 pm at the Glacier.  The Blades are currently sitting in third spot in the league, tied with the Western Royals who resume play on Saturday night when they host the Gander Flyers at the Hodder in Deer Lake.  The league leading Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts are scheduled to face the Clarenville Caribous.

The weekend series between the Western Royals and the Gander Flyers will be a major series for the Royals who are sitting in tie for third place with the Blades who have the better record based on win-loss.  The Royals facing the cellar dwellers in the Flyers have an opportunity to put some distance between themselves and the Blades if they can come up with a big performance this weekend.

The Caribous are hoping to walk away with a great performance on the weekend in an effort to close the gap between them and the league leading Cataracts.  Five points separate these teams but with the Caribous having home ice advantage and their star goalie Jason Churchill scheduled to be in the net, the Caribous have an opportunity to close to within a single point.  However, you the Cataracts will not be an easy team to beat as they have already won the previous matchup against the Caribous.

The Western Royals are looking forward to the return of Darren Langdon to their line-up as he was sidelined after being cut with a skate before the Christmas break.
