Blades Drop the Herd

After losing against the Clarenville Caribous last night, the Mount Pearl Blades rebounded with a win, dropping the Caribous 6-3.

In the first period it was all Blades as Chris Mooney started the scoring at 12:06 on a goal assisted by Steven Yetman.  Mooney got his second goal of the period on the power play, assisted by Yetman and Blake Gallagher.  Gallagher scored later in the period on the power play as well, putting the Mount Pearl Blades up 3-0 with a goal assisted by Chris Mooney and Ryan Graham.

The second period saw the Clarenville Caribous rebound to close the score to 3-1 as Ryan Desrosiers scored, assisted by Keith Delaney and Chad Earle.  The Caribous Andrew Sweetland scored midway through the second to bring the Caribous to within one goal at 3-2.  The goal was assisted by Ryan Delaney and Martin Lapointe.  However, the Blades Paul Roebothan scored to make it 4-2 Blades after two periods of play.

With the score 4-2, Mark Tobin gave the Blades a cushion, scoring at 4:05 of the third period to make the score 5-2.  The Caribous responded on the power play when Dustin Russell s cored to make it 5-3.  The Blades scored its sixth goal at 14:57 of the third, to make the score 6-3 and walk away with the victory.

Chris Mooney of the Blades was the big gun for Mount Pearl, picking up 2 goals and adding 2 assists.  Teammates Blake Gallagher and Steve Yetman had 3 points a piece.  Gallaghers came from a goal and 2 assists while Yetman chipped in with 3 assists.

Ryan Mior picked up the victory for the Blades, facing 39 shots allowing just 3 goals.  Jason Churchill took the loss for the Caribous, allowing 6 goals on 30 shots.
