Royals Defeat Cataracts

The Corner Brook Royals clung on to win a big game against the visiting Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts in the Central West Newfoundland Senior Hockey League action on Saturday night.

The Cataracts jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first period but the Corner Brook Royals stormed back in the second period to score 3 unanswered goals.  Mark Robinson netted the third Royals goal which was the eventual game winner.

The Cataracts scored in the third to draw within 1 goal but the Royals hung on for the victory.

Royals’ goaltender Bryan Gillis was stellar between the pipes and stood tall, stopping 32 shots for the win.  Gillis’ performance gave him the first star of the game.
