Blades Continue to Lead Junior Standings
Even with Trinity-Placentia’s Coady Edwards shutting out the Mount Pearl Blades, the blades continue to lead the standings in the St. John’s Junior Hockey League.
Both teams headed into the dressing room after the first period knotted at 0-0. However, the flyers picked up 2 goals in the second period and ended the game with a 3-0 win over the Blades.
Goal were scored by the Flyers Patrick Churchill (1G), Johnathan Pilgrim (1G, 1A) and Lydon Thorne (1G). The flyers outshot the Blades 34-24. Edwards picked up the shutout while the Blades Jordan Ryan was tagged for the loss.
Jordan Ryan picked up player of the game awards for the Blades. The Flyers player of the game was given to Jordan Richards.
With the win, the Trinity Placentia Flyers pull within 3 points of the league leading Mount Pearl Blades. The Flyers sit with 34 points and a 17-8-0-0-0 record and the Blades have a 18-8-0-0-1 record, sitting infirst with 37 points.
