Re: What needs to happen

The problem with Senior Hockey is the lack of ethical leaders. Irresponsibility has killed the game. Unfortunately the only way for senior hockey to succeed outside the overpass is to pay players like every other senior AAA league in the country. The problem is teams cant responsibly manage there mo...

Rob Sneath

This might have been missed. Sportsnet had a nice article on former caribou Rob Sneath last week. It can be found here:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/rem ... es-hockey/

It puts into perspective how good of a player he was.

Re: Growlers

ECHL is about as good as Senior AAA. Most of the players are low end Major Junior NCAA players and a few CIS players. Most hope to catch on in Europe for a couple of years. Wont see many players progess to full time NHL entry contracts or even full time AHLers For those who followed the AHL in st. j...

Re: Where is the New League ?

they said they were actively recruiting NLders graduating from Major Junior and those in the minor pro ranks. I think the thing is that alot of the top level senior hockey players in NL are ECHL caliber or have already played at that level. Most are not going back to play in that bush league just be...

Re: Congrats Caribous

Challenging year for the Cats a lot of transition. With the rule changes, new coaching, player absences, and roster changes. All teams at the senior level will need a rebuild and the Cats started going through it this year. I think a lot of people have to understand now that a lot of the players fro...

Re: A New Old League

Northeast will probably turn into Flatrock. The Shore will obviously join, they would be stupid not to renew the Cee Bees rivalry. Obviously St. John's will be left out of this since this is a Cee Bees initiated league and they will not want a Jack Casey run team in their league. the other teams mig...

Re: 2018-19

I think everyone has to take responsibility for the direction of senior hockey. Yes, it has been some of the best hockey played on the island. But it lacked typical leadership, teams were greedy, fans support hasn't been consistent, and the players have lacked passion at points. What ever creation c...

Re: Fatally Flawed

Senior Hockey is a small town phenomena across Canada. it has never had a niche in a big city. It will never work in St. John's and that has been proven over the years. What's more is that with the provinces terrible economic conditions there just isn't sponsorship money available for any program le...
