The Allan cup allows ALL teams to pick up players
The Herder allows ONE team to pick up players
There is no comparing the two on your variety pack argument.

Re: Last Allan Cup for Newfoundland?
Actually I think what Wayner is saying has merit... if the league does continue next season, it will be with drastic changes across the board... you'll see imports eliminated for one... it doesn't mean NL doesn't have the talent here... but there is A LOT of moving parts to this puzzle... .. some a...

Re: Allan Cup worth it?
Some very jealous and bitter people here on this board. Who needs enemies with friends like you? I've said it before, in order for our province to compete with the mainland, we need imports. Look at Team Gushue.....two boys are from PEI and Alberta. Look at MUN women's and men's basketball teams......

Re: Herder...
I think people need to examine the rules and understand the challenges associated with continuing to keep the Allan cup alive. Anyone who watched the Allan cup in clarenville knows that most of these teams are made up of eniirely ex professional players and is a very high level of hockey. So take a ...

Re: Hey Paddy
What growth in hockey has Paddy Daly and Joey Maynard provided this province? They have campaigned for years to tear down hockey in central and the west coast so that their own league could gain more players. They have manipulated there own leagues rules for there own teams success. Judging on their...

Re: Hey Paddy
I don't agree with Paddy and Joey being good hockey people. Good hockey people don't use there positions to benefit there own agenda or behave like these gentleman have and done at the herder. They fill there own ego now there to progress the league. I have been pretty adamant on this site that the ...

Re: Robin Short commentary
I think Robin has a point with his commentary. Referees do make mistakes, some monumental like this which no one can understand why. That's the human element of sport. But we also have people making performance decisions in a lot of areas in the same fashion. The referees where at fault for not work...

Re: Black eye or not?
Its really unfortunate what seems to happen every year with senior hockey. There is always something that puts a black mark on the herder, leagues, or teams that overshadows the quality hockey teams and players that we have here. There is also always executives trying to pull some strings behind the...
