I guess the question on everyone minds is who will Gander take 1st overall in the draft coming up Sept 17th. What does everyone think should Gander finally bring back to Gander the home town boy or should they use their pick on someone else?

Will if the Flyers or Royals dont take him........then there will be that possibilty!PurpleandGold wrote:I'd be surprised if he isn't a Caribou this season
But there will still be other great players available at third pick!
The Flyers need to be careful on this one I think.Take emotion out of the picture and pick the best player available to suit their needs, is that a defenceman or a forward? Of course this all depends on who is available in the draft. The home town boy scenario doesn't always pan out!! Will the players names who enter the draft be made public this year or not? I believe it should be, all big boys here who get paid. It would make for some interesting conversations!!PurpleandGold wrote:I guess the question on everyone minds is who will Gander take 1st overall in the draft coming up Sept 17th. I agree.....put the names out there. Generate some interest among the fans.titan wrote:The Flyers need to be careful on this one I think.Take emotion out of the picture and pick the best player available to suit their needs, is that a defenceman or a forward? From what I have heard in the past, as has been said here already, the Flyers have wanted him for the last 2 years. Don't believe all that is said in the media with regard to players saying the want to play for a team. Sometimes the offer is there and not taken by the players. To say that he would be done with the Flyers, maybe it is the other way around. As a fan, I would love to see and cheer for a hometown boy in the Purple and Gold, but HE has to want to wear it.canonball wrote:If he don`t become a flyer this year he will be done with the Flyers ,you will not see him lace up a pair of skates for them ever

I have heard something similar. I heard these past 2 years Gander offered Dyke a fair sized pay cheque in hopes that the home town kid would bring fans to the arena. I heard he was offered the C as well. Mike Dyke doesnt want to be a Flyer by the sounds of things.commandergander wrote:From what I have heard in the past, as has been said here already, the Flyers have wanted him for the last 2 years. IMO If I were the Flyers I would go after O' Brien. If Campbell returns, with Quinn and the rest of the flyers team they will be fine on offense. There are enough players available in the draft that they will players who can score.
If they can get Day,Powell, Theriault AND O'Brien you will have some excellent Defense. Combine Yetmen in net and you have a solid back end. Defense and goaltending wins championships.
However, passing on someone like Escott is scary too
GO CATS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!
