Guess the hockey talk fans can't believe the Cataracts were able to beat an East Coast all-star team for the Herder..Have to give it to the BREAKER'S for a great game today .Guess the Cat's will look different next year some players will be retiring.

There was something sad about it all. It was a good series but the Breakers had to win ONE of the games in St. John's and they didn't and that was their own fault .The Cataracts , which are a paid team, were exposed in the series. We know better who they are. They are a good team but their players are the best players from junior hockey of some years ago.
We all know that hockey will change now. Teams will be younger and faster and won't be paid. There might be a central league next winter. I hope so.; Gander and Grand Falls will need another centre to come on board . Quite possible . Unfortunately the paid model does not work. You saw that in attendance in the series with Gander... hard to believe the Joe didn't sell out. Ironically the east final or playoffs did very well at the gate. One fifty fifty was one thousand seven hundred dollars. Attendance In the regular season ... almost nothing .
Anyway things change and the world moves on with things like imports , two fighting majors , flying players in ...etc etc ... I hope teams like Conception Bay , Clarenviile , Southern Shore etc etc .. resist the urge to pay a few dollars to players... sticks and equipment only .
There does seem to be a new reality in hockey. I told you Yetman could play goal and Cadigan was a gifted defenceman. The Breakers didn't win but at least nobody on here is talking about a beer league today. .
All in all a great season and an evolution in hockey this year.

You didn't have to tell us about Mark Yetman, we seen what he could do in 2011 with the Cataracts.
You failed to mention that the 50/50 at the Joe Saturday night was $1,680.00. Attendance for Central had been down all year, but was still over 500 AVG. per game.

This was a great series and the Breakers organization should be very proud, their time is coming. Cadigan and Nicholas and quite fun to watch...But it was Tibbo and Hodge who did most of the scoring on the weekend for the Breakers. and it was Dalley (Local Boy) with the game winner on Friday night and the Herder clincher on Sunday Afternoon.

"IF" the rumors are true about the Cataracts losing some of their veteran players, they will be a big loss to the organization, but "IF" they return next season in this league or some new version, i'm confident they can fill their roster with new blood, they have an eye for talent, that other teams passed on in the draft.

Good luck to Senior Hockey in Newfoundland....Lets keep it alive.

Have to say with the guys the Breakers picked up they gave us a few good games of hockey to watch.Don’t think any other team in the east could of done that.

Yes Hockey lies it certainly did the shoe was on the other foot where we had a mainland coach and a mainland player with the Breakers ,now that's a first .. Also had a team in the east paying their players as well as some other teams , also had a team fly a goaltender in for one game in the playoffs , certainly has evolved lol .. stay tuned..

Didn't the Breakers also magically get a few players in a "trade" earlier this year? Nothing to do with $$ I guess. Comical.

There wasn’t anything magical about it. And absolutely nothing to do with $. The players you are referring to wanted a shot to win and SS gave them that. No other reason, or stipulations, or nothing. No “loaning” or anything of that nature like hockeylies falsely claims.

So those players were moved to another organization without a trade? IE: players heading back in return?

There were players that went back the other way along with a few draft picks I believe.
