WILL THERE BE SENIOR HOCKEY IN CENTRAL 2019-2020

HNL June meetings to chart the future for Senior hockey for next season is coming up fast, ... and hockey fans in central are very concerned that Senior hockey in central will be no more!
Maybe a couple of the East teams will finally make the official pronouncement that their teams are dead, and let the "11 or 12"(?) players that actually turned up for their scheduled games last season , join the rosters of the honestly committed remaining East teams??
Maybe Mt.Pearl will join the East to make a 'new' 4 team League??
And , if the CeeBees honestly(and realistically) want to play Senior hockey again they will 'have to 'bite the bullet' and work with Gander and GFW to create a 3 team League??
IMO: With the animosity that has characterized the relationship of the CeeBees for years now with every other team in the East League, I don't believe there is any other place in Senior hockey than in central where the CeeBees could realistically hope to get their 'game on again' , as they so regularly declare... the East will not have them as I see their 'histories'...
It will be up to the CeeBees - if they really want Senior hockey again in their region.

Like every other year we should know come end of September or into October at the earliest if there’s a league or not.

2-3 weeks later you should know the teams that intend to start the season. You might even get a schedule then that is subject to change.

You’ll hear like we do each summer of this unknown saviour sponsor with bags of loot that have aspirations of a true provincial league. Last minute this sponsor backs out and we hear there’s no hockey.

Come start of November we’ll know the East is rolling thru the fog. Around same time we’ll know there’s some version of the Central league.

From November to when the Herder is handed out, they’ll be tons of foolishness, teams cancelling/rescheduling games, some teams getting screwed over, other teams getting benefits from the league. They’ll be accusations of paid players but no proof.

So essentially just a normal journey in NL Senior Hockey with nothing out of the ordinary.

The east has changed and there has been a shift in the dynamic that controls things.has changed so I have hope the CeeBees will be part of the league. . . Sadly the energy of those looking for a Mount Pearl team has drained away. They have a great junior system to feed a senior team in Mount Pearl but I think the time for that senior team has past. It was almost there last year but it just missed .
there will be a good league in the east this year but the teams in the east will have to find another team to play with them to survive. there won't be a repeat of interlocking games this year..

MP are having a "Senior Hockey meeting" for those interested. 7:30 tonight Glacier Boardroom. Guess we will know tomorrow.

And yes, 123 nailed it on the head. The most common word in Hockey NL June meetings is "defer" until September.

It doesn't look like the CeBees will find their way back - old guard crowd who have been running things need to be changed up. They just won't recognize they have been going in the wrong direction, their credibility at zero. Like in most organizations in life they need new 'blood' , if they really want senior hockey again.
And, the Cats need help from somewhere other than from the east , especially if the CeeBees can't be resurrected.
The set up with the east playing the central teams has not been helpful in the end. On the surface the two central teams were "saved" by having some regular season games with the east teams. But, overall, it really did not work: Half the teams from the east were not dependable , forcing unacceptable schedule failures and "no shows" - a fiasco for the last 2 seasons for the regular season - hit and miss games and cancellations.
AND, without some pressure from HNL to entice a team or two from somewhere(?) - 'west' of central - to be a source of competition for GFW and Gander, then, senior hockey in central will be facing its biggest survival challenge yet !!
