If the ROYALS aren't in the Herder Finals i would bet my last dollar that it would only be half full tops. JMO.thelionsden wrote:Agreed.....and i know you will speak as you feel...so there are many questions that need to be anwsered.... hense the meeting requested by NLSHL with HNL.

About 22 or so months ago, there was a backroom (somewhat tentative) decision was made to declare the Pepsi Centre as the west coast location for Herder games for the WCSHL champion, with Mile One being the location for the AESHL champions. However, things developed through the league with the Caribous getting a new venue, they wanted the opportunity to play the games at home. There were also some scheduling difficulties that would have posed some problems for the series.
At the end of the day, the Bous played at home, ticket prices were around $25 per, and after the series, the Bous management even decided themselves "that would never happen again".
Fast forward to the end November 2010 ... I received a series of email exchanges that indicated the venue for WCSHL Herder games and Mile One for the east. Same thing, but this time HNL was a little more serious about seeing this happen.
In February 2011, the Caribous were here in town and I had a few people at my house from the Bous / Royals. The talk came down to the Herder and the decision mentioned above. We laughed, some said "that will never happen" ...
Well, we know it didn't happen BUT HNL was insistent this would happen.
I believe it was June 2011, there was a meeting to discuss things about the WCSHL teams, the possibility of a new league etc. At that meeting it was decided apparently that should there be one league, the Herder would be played for by the 2 final teams, the venues (Pepsi Centre & Mile One) was agreed upon by ALL teams, including the Cats.
Fast forward to now, we have a whole pile of hooplah around this issue when in fact, all teams knew this to be the deal should there be a 1 league system in the province.
What transpired in the last few months is beside me. The Western Star wrote about this in November. I wrote about it 14 months ago.
It's here, it's a reality and I'm sorry to say, the teams have to accept what was agreed upon.
Does it suck for the fans / sponsors / town ??? You betcha!
Whether the same people complaining now are the same people who were part of the decision I'm not sure. Whether there was some thoughts the Royals / Wings wouldn't be part of the league and this would not come to pass is unknown.
Just ask yourselves why aren't the other teams running with this and screaming about this?
Sure, they have said they "sympathize" with the Cats "plight" but come on!
There are individuals here who know this was a done decision well before this season started.
Now whether the Cats marketed their season tickets / holding seats on the basis of the Herder being played there in GFW, I don't know ... but all this is for nothing.
HNL is simply sticking to something that has been in the works for almost 2 years and now it's set in stone.
This is why I haven't said much about this. The teams all agreed when they made this league. It's a waist of time to argue about it.
