What is the shape of a hockey puck?: triangle

When you walk into SW Moores Arena, The Joe Byrne Stadium, Humber Gardens now The Pepsi Center, what comes to mind. What comes to your mind? In Grand Falls there are many pictures gracing the walls of the Joe from the 30s 40s and 50s of players who played Senior Hockey. The three above mention teams played in this league along with St John's and Buchans before most knew what Senior Hockey was all about. There are three teams who have hockey history from that time. The Cee Bees, Cats, and Royals are dedicated teams who pride themselves on their history. The like of Hockey NL to do what they done is so unjust and uncalled for all in the name of profit and nothing else. Time for the public who care about hockey to rise up before it is too late.

Seasons over. Give it a rest with the complaining about hnl. You think one stupid decision will take away from the history of any of these teams. NO it will not. Stupid post.

You don't like stupid posts than don't read or reply to them.
I could say being silent about all the HNL crap is also stupid.
Or are you an HNL exec also?

I agree with you. I think your post has alot of merit and is not stupid at all.

The Herder Trophy is not about money, it’s about pride. It’s a piece of our culture. It about bringing two communities to life with tremendous electricity. That buzz that can be felt in every corner of the community. Just ask the communities that have experienced it. (Grand Falls-Windsor, Clarenville, Corner Brook, Harbour Grace, Deer Lake, Southern Shore, Flatrock, Badger, Gander, Stephenville, Port aux Basques and other great communities across this province that have experienced it over the course of history). The Herder has the ability to bring a community together. To rally with tremendous pride around the shared goal of winning the most prestigious trophy in our beautiful province. I know some will say that times have changed, BUT ITS THE SAME TROPHY, and it carries with it the same pride that it has for decades.
That “buzz” was absent in GFW these past two weeks, and I suspect there was a similar absence in Clarenville. Normally everyone everywhere in Town is talking about the Herder, “goin to the games”, “can't wait”, “should be a good weekend”, etc etc.......the excitement is palatable. Not this year....the two competing communities were robbed this year....plain and simple. I know some will say “more whining, fighting, complaining” from those Cats fans, but that is totally missing the bigger picture. This issue is not about Grand Falls-Windsor, it’s about allowing teams and communities that make it to the Herder, that have earned the right to be there, that have done so on the backs of their dedicated fans and supporters, ALLOWING them to play in front of their crowd, in their arena, like they fully deserve to do because they have earned that right. The fans, the sponsors, the towns, the kids, all losers because of this decision. Minor Hockey in GFW missed out on an estimated $12,000 last weekend because the games were moved outside the Joe. Meanwhile HNL will still walk away with their 10% cut, which I’d bet the farm will be much more than the revenue sharing cut that the teams will get, if they get anything at all.

HNL either doesn’t get it, or doesn’t want to get it. It is a travesty in the storied history of the Herder. Please push aside the politics and the grudges and don’t make the same mistake again!!! Sometimes admitting a mistake is the first step in finding a solution.

Just because you disagree with a post does not make it stupid. There is a lot of merit to this discussion, it was a major goof by HNL and they should be hearing about it. Fans have invested a lot of time and money into their teams and got screwed in the end. Perhaps if the discussion does continue to keep its steam until next season they will realize they made a huge mistake, provided there is a next season of course.

#1Bousfan it is clear that you may have never played hockey.Because if you did you would understand the pride that these players who played for the Herder have to be able to play for this in front of their home fans.To some of these local players who have watched the herder playoffs over the years it is a great feeling to beable to do the same in front of the local fans.To you it might just be a game of hockey, you don't know what this is all about. So leave the hockey to the real people who care about hockey in their home towns.
