PAB fans are brutal......Its one thing to cheer and support your team, but it's another thing berate, ridicule and verbally abuse GUESTS in your stadium. Shame Shame on PAB. I was at the games this weekend and witnessed small children getting into the faces of some Jets Mom - laughing and making obscene hand gestures, I mean kids about 7 to 10 years old...where are their parents????? no excuse for that type of behaviour - I also witnessed grown men behaving the same way as the 7 to 10 year olds. I used to love going to PAB and feeling the spirit in their stadium...but after this weekend? I could care less to ever set foot and spend my money in that stadium again.
Oh yeah, it is hilarious to see a 19 year old kid down on the ice realing from pain and almost loosing his eye....apparently one of the hecklers who was calling him names while the kid was down is a teacher???? again Shame Shame.
I have had several conversations with the security at the complex, they are alway very cordial and mannerly, but the problem is way bigger than they can handle. The committee running this Complex, needs to do something and get a handle on these out-of-hand fans....when they start acting up....they should be thrown out of the building.
When we come to PAB...we are spending money at your hotels, restaurants, stores and your stadium. I'm sure you don't treat everyone coming to your town this way.....so why is it acceptable to treat opposing sports teams in this manner...WE ARE GUESTS IN YOUR STADIUM!!!. No other stadium on this island treats their visiting teams like this...again SHAME SHAME!!!
PAB gets an "A" in bad behaviour

excellent news !
Indeed it is....it would be a shame if a kid got maimed for life over a Hockey Game. At that age, hockey is their life...in a few years they will understand there is whole lot more to life than hockey.

Im glad to hear that the young man who got hit is feeling better, it was sad that he took such a bad hit and even worse that some people seemed to be happy about that.Aviator wrote:When we come to PAB...we are spending money at your hotels, restaurants, stores and your stadium. I do however not agree with your opinion on pab fans being the only ones on the island that treats visiting teams and fans like that. I have watched hockey in every arena in the cwjhl with the exception of grand falls and although corner brook and deer lake were pretty good, stephenville arena is just as bad as ours is IMO. The last time I was in there it was so bad with the threats of violence and name calling from certain stephenville fans that some people from port aux basques left with a minute left in the third to avoid the possibility of violence. I saw first hand a crowd of about 6 people get threatened just for cheering when pab got a goal in stephenvilleI know that there are some fans in our stadium that are extreme and even some that should not be allowed there for some of the things that they do, but the same thing goes for stephenville arena. We also spend our money in their stadium, at their hotels, restaurants, and stores and at least from what I have experienced, it is just as bad.
I know that hockey will be hockey and some people get riled up... I can be one of them sometimes, but to me what happens on the ice should stay on the ice. I guess there are a few fans in both stadiums that give everyone a bad name!!
He's going to loose a day or two of work...but should recover. You are right, there are some fans in our stadium I would just as soon see stay home...but the big picture is usually PAB bring more fans with them then what show up for the home team...When you are a handful of people in a packed stadium, and there young children right through to seniors all heckling and tossing threats your way....now that is a feeling of being threatened. I don't think the atmosphere in the Stephenville Dome can be compared to the atmosphere in the Bruce. When is the last time you were in Stephenville and a 10 year kid flung you the bird and told you to f-yourself, has a druken man ever came up to one of your fan putting his hands on your should and start singing terrible words in your ear? I don't think so. I have been in many, many stadiums across this wonderful province and have talked to many wonderful "hockey" people and for the most part PAB has a really bad reputation for this kind of behaviour. It's too bad because PAB has a really good thing going there, the support is amazing, but the lasting impressions are not so amazing.
It goes back to the old addage......"you reap what you sew" I guess.
Wishing all teams the best of luck in the play-offs.............Stay Safe and Play Safe.

No I have not ever had a drunk man grab me in stephenville but I have been told by a stephenville fan to "sit down and shut my f***** mouth before they came over and beat my teeth out" for cheering when the mariners got a goal... I am a female and that coming from a grown man twice my size is very intimidating and threatening. I am not defending the way that some fans act out here, I have already said that there are some that I think should be removed from our stadium, but stephenville can be just as bad
