The GF-W Cataracts have been lucky enough to obtain the services of Local Hockey Player Brian Casey for the 2009-2010 season. This will only boost the best defence on the Island.

Casey has semi-decent numbers for a centre, it should help your offense a little. You will need at least 2 or 3 more like him to fix your offensive woes.

Brian is stay at home defenceman who can also play forward. This is why is stats are low, but fans will be really happy with what he will bring to the Cats line-up, which is experience and leadership. You can see is stats on Eurohockey.Net

You should name a new captain for the upcoming season because lewis is not a real leader, The C I thinks should go to Lapointe because he seems to me like a good leader for the cats.

Brian Casey began playing as a forward and started playing Defense in St. Jean. He played Defense at Acadia (94-98), where he won a CIAU National Championship, he played Defense on the Canadian National Team, and pretty much everywhere he has played. He can play forward and has done so in Denmark. IF, and thats a BIG IF, he returns to play for the Cataracts, he could play at either Defense or Forward. He may not be back as he has been offered a job as player/coach with AaB in Denmark and this past season ran the Danish Under-17 Team. He is a superb skater and has a shot to rival Lapointe's (whom I believe has the best in the league). Either way, IF he returns to play, it will be excellent for the League and fantastic for the fans. Yet another great player coming to the WCSHL...

perhaps we shall see more names in the coming days, its just unfortunate that they seem to trickle into the forum or people do not/cannot share them with everyone. its the nature of the League I suppose. I did hear that there will be 2 very very good players coming to Clarenville this year, but unfortunately I do not know their names. I was simply told that they too will be something to watch.

Mr. Professor you sound like you have a good knowledge of what BRIAN CASEY WILL BRING TO THE CATARACTS. I heard today that Brian Excepted a job here in GF-W and will be around in the Fall. He will be a great asset to a Defence that will be twice as strong as last season. I'd say look to see maybe 3 scoring forwards and an additional D-man added to the roster for this season as well.

Going to be a good looking team this season....the Cataracts fans deserve it.
