I like your thinking Evan, these two guys you mentioned will have big years IMO Gill had 37 points last season, and this same line is kept in tact, Pearcey - Nicholas - Gill.. look for these guys to tear it up again! IMO Gill will get 40+ Now the top line is a work in progress, but adding a top line center with minor pro experience who has been top 5 in scoring on each team he's been on, look for Fergus to have a good year if healthy 30+ points.

Top 5 forwards:
Fergus
Gill
Pearcey
Brennan
Nicholas

But the most intriguing about the Cats so far this season is the D. They have a top 6-8 core that is the best IMO the Cats have ever iced, Gallant,Short and Marty leading the top 3 then Brent,Hoffe,Hounsell,Cantwell and Lewis. They are deep on the back end. But alone in the top 3 they are 25+ pt players (if healthy) but then Brent and Hoffe are also capable of being 15-20 pt D per year, and stay at home steady D in Hounsell, Cantwell and Lewis. So the Cats are strong in there own end, but also they can have a chunk of offense from these players as well.

The Cats have done well this off season in bringing in good talent to replace the ones that have left. Shaping up to be a good year in Catland.

I have to say I saw this one coming. I was a fan of Quinn due to his versatility but the cats needed a second centre man who could put up numbers and if this guys offensive skills are highly ranked and he can deliver then the teams management made a good choice.

I really like this signing by the Cats. I remember watching Cam Fergus play with Cape Breton back in junior here at Mile One and thinking at the time that he would surely make the NHL. He's an awesome player and should definitely be a standout in this league. Matt Quinn was also a great player but I viewed him as a defensive specialist almost like a Kris Draper when he played, could play against the other teams top lines and had speed to burn but really didn't find the twine much. Good move by the Cats for sure.

First time I've heard anyone make that comparison with regards to Quinn and I have to say I never thought about it before but you nailed it bang on.

I'm surprised that no one has brought this up yet but I think I would have parted ways with Lapointe before I let Quinn go. The cats are deep on the back end and a little thin up front. With Lapointe's age and number of years limited I think that would of been the better way to go. Just my humble opinion.

You share that opinion with many people. Many fans speculated that lapointe would be released in favour of a young offensive forward after the cats obtained the rights to rodi short. Personally I would like to see Marty retire a cataract and then have number 55 retired
