Its interesting that you have the imminent demise of Senior A hockey outside the overpass & inside the overpass they struggle to get their fecal matter together. Why the need for a new league out East?? The Ceebee's have been in hockey jail & have served their time. Why would they not be permitted to enter the current East Coast league??

There is no real need for a new league and YES the CeeBees have served their time and I think would be taken into the east coast league. Players there will drive to Harbour Grace for a game but that leaves... the Clarenville problem.

With Mount Pearl I think the is a gulf between that club and the old east coast setup. this year however is a different year and a new broom sweeps clean. I hope the Caribous find a game because their misfortunes have not been driven by trickery or cheating but rather simple economics and Clarenville is a good hockey town.

As a long time fan of senior hockey I think the Ceebees are on the right track trying to form a new league. Why the hell would they want to put their hockey faith in the powers that be in the present east coast league? We all know what that league is capable of. The Ceebees trusted them before and what did that get them? They were allowed back in, their finances milked by the league and once they started to win and were seen as a threat to the teams inside the overpass (including the Breakers) they were given the heave ho.

You know what they say about fool me once........

I am hearing rumours that the new league had been given a token go ahead by HNL for next season but some things have changed and it's not just a matter of a rubber stamp anymore. It's going to be interesting to say the least, right now there is only a solid commitment from 2 teams and the newly formed league from last season is crying foul to HC. Would HC have the authority to look at this? Maybe that's why you haven't heard much of an announcement about anything in April Hockey eyes. Anyone else hearing anything about this? Hockey eyes? Is it possible we will have 4 teams without a game for next season or will the Bees and the Bous get their way. Either way it's a mess as usual, sickening actually.

I think maybe it's time for HC to step in and look at the mess that's being created here in NL in regards to senior hockey.

Didn't HNL rule last season to keep the cee bees in the aeshl and the other teams decided to start their own league excluding the cee bees . That was ok to start a league so the cee bees wouldn't have a place to play, now the cee bees are part of a group trying to restart the aeshl so they'll have a game next year and thats all wrong . Face it the only thing that caused the cee bees to be tossed last year is because of the success they've had not only on the ice but with their fan base and financial state , something most of the league don't have.
As for the new league ,personally I would like to see the cee bees , blades, caribous ,breakers and paradise . Some of the best hockey on the avalon was cee bees and breakers and both teams filled their barns . The bous record speaks for itself and I think the other two teams will fit in fine.
Like I said in an earlier post , central league with the flyers and cats should be able to pick up another couple of teams and then cross over on times using the same rules for both leagues.

Just Watch your comments seem to be born of "hope" more than anything. In the dream of a new five team league .. who are Paradise? what hockey system are they? Is there a junior team .....any background. Who are Paradise ? I live in Paradise and I've never heard of them . As for the Breakers " filling their barn". You must be dreaming ...they drew okay in their series against ...St. John's . As for Mount Pearl they say their business plan doesn't count on a fan base.
Finally ...the CeeBees being kicked out for their fan base and financial state ...the CeeBees were kicked out for paying their players. Its that simple ...AND all teams in the AESHL voted for that. All of them including the Breakers. .
Also any new 5 team league like that would mean the end of the old east coast senior league now called ECSHL. . That would need the approval of HNL . Good luck with that.

first of all the old east coast league was the aeshl and the ecshl was only made up to avoid the cee bees ,secondly if the cee bees were paying players you would be a fool to say they were the only team doing so , and last if you went back to they days of the Sullivans , Oates, Crosbie and Bartlet just to name a few you'd better have tickets in advance if you want to see games , especially play off games.
