Positive Comments Regarding CWSHL
Every year this subject comes up. Why don't we put a positive spin on it for once. Maybe all the negative comments is adding to the decline in attendance, hence putting teams in danger. We certainly need to sit down and review where we're at as a leaque and where we want to get too. The economics of all teams are different, so when we sit down we have to look at the big picture. For me a year ago, I was ready to walk away, not the case anymore, a little change here and there within our team and organization, and most to do with the renewed energy of the young guys we brought in has me excited again. We met last week as a management team and we're full steam ahead. Rumors had Gary White finished in Gander, I spoke with Gary since, with with a lesser role I feel Gary will be back, which IMO would be good news in Gander. The way GFW is leading the way in our leaque for the past # of years, im sure they have some tired volunteers, but I will be surprised if they're not back and on the West Coast, nobody has more passion for the game than Ross Coates and his group. Are there questions that need answers, are there issues that have to be dealth with, yes there is, but I believe we have to be positive as long as we got a leaque and currently we have one of the best, if not the best Sr leaques in Canada. That's my rant for what it's worth. I ask everyone to look for something positive to post about the past season, and there was plenty and we all take the High Road and look forward to next season, because I feel 100% there will be one. And yes fan attendance and how to improve it has to be our #1 priority

Thanks Ivan it's good to hear a positive spin from people involved with the organizations. As a big supporter all fellows like me can do is buy my seats, support the fundraisers, and sing the praises of our hockey to anyone who will listen.Ivan wrote:Every year this subject comes up. Thanks for the post Ivan, it's nice to see some positivity on here.. If we had more people like yourself on board within this league I think we would be well on our way with this league for many years to come. I will be doing the same as geoguy said and maybe down th road if there's an opportunity for me to help my team and this league on a large scale I will do that, who knows. But I sure hope I get to sit back in my seats, enjoy some great hockey, have a big plate of fries and sometimes a cold refreshment for many years to come.

titan,
I agree, there are lots of positives. The league either just has to promote the product, embrace what it has & sell it to the public. The die hard fans will stick with the league through thick & thin.
You want to make this the goto place on the weekend!!!

My positive thing that I've seen in the league this year - seeing the kids at the rink & watching the players give them high fives as they walk on / off the ice! The smile on the kids faces - amazing!

Getting people out into the world (exercising human interaction) rather than in their nutshell or on a computer .
... great chance to talk to people and the kids enjoy the day at the rink a great deal .

You are right, its just to bad that administrative and political disputes/opinions seem to dominate the league. The way the level of play in the league has progressed the past 5 years it would be nice to see the organization of the league to be better and all stakeholders look to help grow the league and senior hockey as opposed to destroy it for their own personal gain. I really believe if promoted correctly, administered by a separate governing body, and with the correct financial responsibility there is no reason why a 6 team league with a team in St. John's wouldn't be successfull
