What is the shape of a hockey puck?: triangle

As I stated in the removed thread, all you have to do is look who made the statement in question, not really sure why he remains a member of the Bous organization. If it is returned to the forum, have a read and you will leaarn alot about the individual. JMO

It wasn't taken that way.

The requested post was moved simply because the site was asked by the organization.

One of the members is apparently on the executive and spoke out of place. It was NOT how the organization viewed things and it may have left the impression that this was coming from the team.

Once I've made a decision, I will either move the post back or let this stand.

Silverhawk did nothing wrong and was only doing what we've done here many times for other organizations.

It is an interesting discussion and raises some issues. I hope the post returns. If it does NOT return it raises the question of whether an organization in the Senior Hockey League can shut down a discussion . I have watched in recent day, in another thread, some pretty nasty things said about Shane Gamberg. Can the CeeBees now object to that whole thread and have it removed ? What if a CeeBees executive spoke on the thread and they were embarrassed by what he or she said ? Can they request it be removed and then it will be done . .

My personal opinion is that it would be a CEEBEES problem not a NL Hockeytalk problem . It opens up a whole area of difficulty. Is it just the Caribous that get to decide how discussions progress or is it all the teams . I have always considered this place an area for the discussion of senior hockey issues and not just a cheerleader for the teams. If someone that is part of one of the organizations is out of control then that would seem like a point of discussion as opposed to saying nothing and shutting down the thread.

I understand that this is not a democracy and is ,in the end a privately run discussion group , but those in charge had best be careful because in shutting something down because an individual team didn't like it they are on a slippery slope. They ought to take a look and <like the CeeBees on the broadcast rights issue , reassess their position . Put the discussion back up with anything libelous removed. This site will be better for it .

I think that the person involved should be removed from the bous executive board.Players come and go from team to team but there is no need for members to come on here and make commments about ex-players.Because you never know when that player may return to an old team latter down the road.

If the Caribous GM had an issue with the statement made by a member of the Bous organization, I think he should have made a statement on this forum that this was certainlly not the opinion of the organization. Then deal with the person who made the statement within the organization, not go to NL Hockey Talk to have the thread removed. JMO

I have been saying this for the last year now. A topic shouldn't be remove or locked, only if there are rules broken. This past year it has happen way to often, a mod don't like a topic or they find the topic boring or they don't think the topic isn't going anywhere, so the mod locks it , I think is WRONG for a mod to be doing this. I have spoke to a few people that feel the same way, & some of them don't even come to this site anymore, because the mods try to rule everything here. Now the teams can decide what the bloggers chat about.

The topic was under review and before I could move it back to here, we lost power as a result of the storm last night. I had no internet connection.

I saw nothing in the topic that would cause this site any harm but I do see the point with respect to the Caribous wanting it removed, especially given the affiliation with the individual making some of the comments.

The topic is back and is live once again.

Criticisms seem to happen regardless of what goes on here. If a topic gets locked, people complain. If a topic doesn't get locked, people complain.

The mods / admins here use their judgement here and are VOLUNTEERS.

This site displayed over 20 million pages last month and cost ME a little over $950 to operate for the month. Advertising dollars from Google contributed back about $350, which means my little hobby that gives people a place to come and bitch and complain, cost me $600. The last upgrade to the server that runs this site cost me $5,000. At the time I had a company that could help offset the costs, now it's 100% on my shoulders.

This site has been operational for 6 1/2 years. We've had 3 people advertise on this site (2 of which were mods, the other was another avid hockey supporter that now runs Newfoundland Hockey Scene magazine).

We contacted all the teams, business etc in the area through a marketing company asking if they wanted to advertise. Not one team, not one hotel, not one restaurant and not one business in either of the hockey areas stepped up to buy a banner add at $150 per month. I even dropped the rate to $50 per month hoping someone would step up and help out.

But here we are, again, complaining about a forum that costs nobody anything to come and use and that everyone who helps out does so because they LOVE THE GAME!

It's the whole reason why I run this site.

I've got a collection of hate mail, legal threats, lawyer bills and phone messages ... I guess token of people's appreciation.

So the next time you see a thread that's locked or moved ..... just maybe think about everything that's put into keeping this site alive day after day.

Don't believe me????? Ask Silverhawk about it! She's been to my home on many occasions and has seen what goes on behind the scenes to keep this place alive.

The mods here are doing a fantastic job and their help is appreciated!

And for the record, the teams have no say what gets moderated here. I've offered them all a place to post their own items so they have exclusive access. Not one has chosen to take me up on it.

The relationship that this site has with all the teams has been very good. Look at many of the announcements that get put here for them!
