LEAGUE IN FINANCIAL TROUBLE?
open your mind smogdog. There are more teams then the west coast teams. How would the Mount Pearl team survive? also at 20$ per ticket most people wont be able to afford to go to games in their home town! 2 parents + 2 kids = one family. 4 x 20 = 80$ for one game! plus food for the kids and other things = over 100$ for one game!!! get with it and stop assuming everyone is in the same position as yourself.

Charge 15-20 bucks for a ticket.... Ain't, not gonna happen... Its only a little over 20 bucks to go to an icecaps game and that hockey and that arena is a hell of alot better...

The problem is no one wants to watch hockey on sunday afternoons (at least here in cb) The games should be friday/sat nights if the Royals did that they would see much more fans, I believe they would like to do it but other teams in the league do not want to play on friday nights
spoken like a true townie who never had hockey for a long time so lets see for me to go to mile one for a game 150 for the hotel 120 for gas 100 bucks for food for myself and the misses 32 for tickets 400 bucks versus 28 . i think ill stay home and watch the cats go cats go

watch it while you can... There wont be any Senior hockey after this year.. Good luck at the allan cup.. They will need all the luck they can muster up there... There Defense will be lit up like the forth of july.... Just picture it.... Kevin Smyth comming down one on one with Brad Lewis.. Good thing lewis lost all that weight...
Smogdog, your last post certainly shows your ignorance! I am from Grand Falls-Windsor, not a townie. Also, I said there are more teams than just the west! Another thing I mentioned is that everyone is not in the same situation as you, some have 2, 3, or maybe even 4 children! so keeping ticket prices low is essential for these families. I've played hockey all my life and I know that the kids are the best fans and all players feel the same I'm sure of it. It feels a lot better to have kids going around with a cats jersey with your number on it than some 30 or 40 year old. Kids are the driving force behind hockey. Denying these kids a chance to watch the game that we all fell in love with as kids would be a travesty. Kids are the people that also wear most of the hockey memorabilia like jerseys and toques and other things which, if denied admission due to sky rocketing ticket prices, would be further lost revenue. Its not all black and white like you make it out to be so maybe you should think about the situations of other families before you go shooting your mouth off to up the price of admission.
Unicorn, it would be impossible for most teams to play Friday nights due to the imports and flights and work/school schedules. If teams were happy ice local teams as they did in the past when the league was just starting to come back in the west it would not be a problem but for some reason people got the idea that they could make this into an extremely high caliber league, which in Newfoundland's case is not possible and will lead to the end of the league. I think people have truly lost sight of what is important when organizing a league such as this, long term viability is much more important than short term gains in talent while standing on the edge of financial collapse

my comments...
$15/20 for at ticket won't put extra bums in the seats... in past years when the price increased $1 or $2 there were always fans who'd not be able to afford... yes it would produce extra income and revenue but ONLY if you can sell the max amount.. if you have say 800 season ticket holders/holding seat holders @ $14/ticket.. and increase it to $18.. you may drop fro 800 to 600... within the bous, we've seen a drop over the past few years.. fans who help say 4 season passes for their family now may only have 2.. becuase thats all they could afford... and its understandable.
Regarding the league website..(and NO im not the webmaster either)... its not hard to find... google "newfoundland senior hockey league".. there you go!
as for promotion.. yes they need to promote more.. but i'm hearing more regarding this province wide league on media than i've heard in the past 4 yrs for the WCHSL.. I've heard CBC, NTV and VOCM report on game wins/losses and who's upcoming this weekend.. thats big imrpovement... it takes time.
If you remove the import rule.. and allow any team to bring in any player they can afford.. that will DEF put teams in the red in an attempt to bring in the very best to compete with teams that can more readily afford to do so.. putting a greater risk for teams putting themselves in the hole.. (IMHO)

My math is spot on TommyHawk! Why don't you head down to the local campus and see if someone will show you how to use a calculator, and then you can apologize. I'll accept it!
And Smogdog, I don't even think you know what you are arguing against anymore.nobody is saying to pick between the ice caps and the cats if you're outside the overpass. Everyone is saying you can't compare the level of hockey, so how can you even suggest to pay the same for ticket prices. Senior hockey should be a lot cheaper to watch. Have another one for me
