Heard from a family friend of OBrien that he will be in the Icecaps lineup the weekend.

Yep. He'll be in the lineup tomorrow night. Should be a hot ticket. Wonder where I can get a couple...

I think people should rationalize there expectations for this player. He's put up good numbers in the Q as a 19-20 year old player. But there is always a reason why a player with these numbers is overlooked twice in an NHL draft and then doesnt get a second invite to a rookie camp.I suspect that you will see him play CIS or ECHL/CHL next season or return for an overage year of junior.

I imagine he'll return for another year of Junior if he's not signed to an NHL/AHL contract. The ECHL talent level isn't worth leaving behind a possible run at the Memorial Cup (assuming he gets dealt to a contender next year).

Not to mention forefeiting the CHL Education money too. That was Robert Slaney's big mistake.

I hope after the syracuse series people can see the difference between high-end major junior players Mark Schieffle and especially Emerson Etem. And a player like Zach O'brien. Just because you score some points in the Q doesnt make you a pro player.

Patrick Yetman has been making a good living at it for years and he was the Q's top scorer when he played with Moncton. McCambridge also said that O'Brien is on the Jets' radar.
