What a time that will be for Gander fans, when the Flyers take to the ice for the first time. Always a great moment for a team. Congrats Gander, the town and the executive for getting this all together, some solid signings and all the best in your first year back! Raise the roof of the place out there!

There's a real buzz around the town of gander concerning this team. I work in gander and my coworkers are talking about the team and how great it will be to have competitive hockey to watch this winter.

I'm getting razzed already cause I'm a cats fan and it's great. I wish these guys lots of success in their inaugural season so even more people get on the bandwagon

I agree the town is really getting behind the team here. Can't wait for the Blades on opening night!

If theres a lNHL lockout (as it looks like there will be)it could turn out very good for Gander. Although they've tried to start up a booster club here and the first meeting only attracted three people despite it being advertised in radio, print and the Internet. That was pretty discouraging. It also highlights one of the problems with gander sports, something Ive seen after being involved with other sports and living here since 1994. Its that supporting a team and showing up to be involved, either as a fan or volunteer are two very different things. The flyers no doubt have a lot of fans who dont live in gander, or who are back and forth from Alberta, or will support the team but only show up to see "the odd game or two"
