I think evanpenton made some very valid points. I have no idea what the Delaneys were or were not paid and I really couldn't care less but the fact remains that whey were not traded to Grand Falls a couple years ago. They left their home team voluntarily to chase the big bucks being offered by another team. You can't argue that fact and I think that's precisely the point evan was making.

YEAH SERIGO, YOU ARE RIGHT - the delaneys left for 1 year to play for cats. that was year k.delaney was building the house. you can't blame a person to go after a few extra dollars and we all know what involves in building a house - but what did k.delaney do the following year-he returned to cee bees even though he could have stayed for the big money. I guess his heart and soul was with cee bees and I believe r.delaney was in school that year. now I ask you serigo, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?????

What would I do? I'd go for the money of course. I didn't say what he did was wrong. I just used it as an example of the point Evan was making, namely that players will normally chose money over community loyalty.

I agree with you again serigo, when a guy plays 4 years with a club, takes a year off to make a few of extra dollars to help with major expenses and then returns for another 4 or 5 years to cee bees, I guess you know where his heart is.

The delaneys left cbs for huge dollars. Around $700 a game. They had no loyalty to their town because the year after they wanted to stay with the cats but the cats realized they overpaid them big time so they released them. I dont know the exact dollar but I know for a favt thwy arent getting any less then 500 a game with clarenville. This is not a bash on the delaneys or a bash on the cbs. As sergio stated my point was simply that players will drop their hometown in a heartbeat when thw dollars are thrown at them. So apparently im still right here on this planet

The Ceebees organization has a rich history and has had many great players wear their jersey, ie, Alex and George Faulkner, Garry Simmonds , Jimmy Dawe and so on. In my opinion Keith Delaney ranks up there with all of them, is one of their all-time top players and will be remembered that way for a long time to come, no matter where he ends his hockey career.
