I think the linesman can help make a call for spearing. It was a spear or a slash or whatever but it was a penalty. As a Cee Bee fan i say get over it and move on to the next game. Tobin shouldn't have done it and thought about his team first. It should be a great game in Torbay next Fridayknockoutpunch wrote:worst ref ever. makes chilli look good. lol. he got 2 for slashing and 4 for "spearing" even though the ref never seen it

It was obvious that he was being targetted but he didn't lose his cool even when he took the shot to the head from Ennis (or as Hollett would say...when he was subject to interference by Ennis).Carbonear Canadiens wrote:
There's been that many changes to the lines that I can't even follow anymore. #2 line starting the game and fourth line starting the 3rd period and OT? Hardiman on 1st line?? Come on, try Lynch back there again and put Sparkes back to 2nd with Tobin and Pitty. I don't think Sparkes belongs on the third line, he works his a$$ off every game and he is that extra bit of difference up there with Tobin and Pitty. That line was awesome last Sat. That game alone should warrant another go at that line.
Anyways, we're all sooks here in CBN. Congrats to TB on the win, soak up the week long bragging rights. You'll all be down and Clovelly next Sunday playing a round.
Memo to Chris Sparkes: PASS THE FREAKIN' PUCK. YOU'RE STARTING TO PLAY LIKE PEARSON OF THE BLADES.
Thought Lynch was one of the better cee bees last night. He kept his cool and seems to get TB upset. Maybe he should go with the Thomey line again but thats a coaches call. The call on Ennis should have been a check to the head. He elbowed lynch right in the face. I agree with the memo to C. Sparkes. Play like you did all year. Move the puck, back check and please HIT SOMEONE.

I was at the Game there was a delayed call on Tobin for slashing down in the TB end the continued up the ice with the puck into the CB end. Tobin the coming back up the ice speared Hayes the ref had his back to the play but i did see the Linesman go talk to him when the play was whistled down! First game i seen all year i thought the Cee Bees were the better team just lost because of a undisciplined penalty late in the game!

That's how I saw it as well. After Hollett called the slash, Tobin got frustrated which lead to the spear. I don't agree with spearing but I can certainly understand his frsutration. All during the third period he was being grabbed, slashed and hooked but no penalty called. Torbay was caught on two bad line changes where they had too many men on the ice and that wasn't called. Just before the slashing penalty Tobin was tripped by the Torbay goalie and hauled down in the corner by Jones, but still no penalty called. I don't have a problem with any of that. It was a fast paced tie game so let them play. Why Hollett would then decide to call a slash on Tobin, when they were heading to overtime, after everything else he let go in the third is certainly beyond me. He did call a marginal penalty on Sturge as the period ended but by that time the Ceebees had a six minute penalty on the clock so I'm sure that wasn't much consolation to them. Overall though I thought it was a great game. Torbay played well, especially O'Brien in goal. Now all they have to do is do the same thing again......three more times.Haymaker wrote:I was at the Game there was a delayed call on Tobin for slashing down in the TB end the continued up the ice with the puck into the CB end. If Tobin had just let it go with the two minutes then the penalty to Tb would have cancelled it out and they would have went into OT on the PP I think. You have to be a team player first and pick your spots. But whats done is done and can't be changed. He is still a good player that made a mistake. Tell me one that hasn't. The way it stands now is we need two and TB needs three. O'Brien is gonna have to come up with some great games as the Cee Bees are gonna bring it next game big time. Hope fully Parsons will be back and maybe Brown as well. if this happens then there should be some line up changes on both the D and forwards. can't wait until Friday. Go Cee Bees Go.

The linesman can only call a major penalty but he certainly made this call as the ref wasn't looking.clearycountry wrote:I think the linesman can help make a call for spearing.
