In searching for the reasons for low fan attendance in Corner Brook & Deer Lake I’m surprised that nobody has mentioned the fact that all four teams make the playoffs. This could lead to players & teams going through the motions for the majority of the season and then tuning up for the playoffs. Isn’t the regular season just one long exhibition season??
What would happen to the intensity of the hockey during the regular season if let’s say only 3 teams made the playoffs. Would the intensity increase? Would the hockey be any better? Would the highly paid floaters float less? Is this one of the answers to the problem?

This been talked about has long as this season is...BUT yes your right..5 teams be nice with 4 making it..Also a provincal league could work...Also 3 teams make the playoffs and do some kind of round robin,be no good for a team to get a by to the final cause they would lose on their gate...i personally like 5 teams and 4 make the playoffs and then the hockey would be much better.

Short of adding a team, a drastic but effective would be to convert the 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 to a best of 3 series, all played in the home arena of the higher seed. Then the battle for 1st of 2nd in the regular season would be intensified. The downside of course being the possibility that two teams would receive no playoff revenue.Tommy wrote:Ice Dog wrote:In searching for the reasons for low fan attendance in Corner Brook & Deer Lake I’m surprised that nobody has mentioned the fact that all four teams make the playoffs. A 5th team would be an added bonus. Maybe bring back the Bay of Island Bruins. All their equipment and uniforms should be around here somewhere.

not. give it a rest barry. they were terrible.
Corner Brook won't support one team let alone two. if the Bruins had to play out of Sville they would have , maybe made a go of it. Yes they were terrible.hockeyjockey wrote:not. give it a rest barry. they were terrible.
