I know hindsight is 20/20 but in this case the town simply did not have the foresight to "future-proof" the facility. When this white elephant is brought up around this time each year all you here is "well how could they have predicted the success of senior hockey". Had they looked back at their history, which everyone seems so concerned about, they should have known it would have been successful. There...that feels better.lol.

.... sientificly speaking i can see the joe turning into a VERY attractive shoping complex and a new "HOCKEY ARENA" in GFW .
gfw is growing in leaps and bounds and a new rink will be part of that growth .
...... stay tuned the best is yet to come .

I thought it was a pretty good job with what GFW did to the Joe.I for one can relate to the old building as a player and a fan of Junior ,Minor , Senior , High School hockey games there. Each time I go there I have alot of great memories of that place.GFW was stuck with the option to build a new arena or to go with renovations to the Joe.They opted to redo the Joe and I thought that they did a pretty good job. However I feel that most council members now would of added a few more bucks and build a new larger centre. To see the money that was spent on the Joe I think it will be a while before GFW sees a new arena. Here is the scenario those who remember the old Joe and those who do feel the need for a new arena. But some people have to remember that Senior Hockey can go from a town just as fast it came in.It all comes down to money.

What you have to look at is do this place be filled to capacity more than 3 or 4 time a year ? If not then do it make sence to build a bigger place ? That is like the CEC for only the playoffs in the shl there do not be a full house and i think that fan support for all west coast teams were down this year ...I don`t think that a bigger place is the answer if you only have a couple of times a year that the place is full ..
but who am i ,if you need it go for it

Some good points there canon for sure. I don't know if you need any more seating, although had they left the seating that was there in the far end I don't think there would be many complaining. The only thing (besides leaving the seating at the end) I would've like to have seen was maybe a walking track that you see at other facilities. That way you have a multi-purpose facility with lots of standing room for times when the demand is there. Not only did they take away some seating but there is virtually nowhere to stand now either which is unfortunate.canonball wrote:What you have to look at is do this place be filled to capacity more than 3 or 4 time a year ?
