Tomcod b'y, this thread is not about the lost import.
Many hockey purists across the Country want to see some changes made to the Allan Cup and they have some legitimate concerns but as long as the rules are what they are teams will take full advantage and you can't knock them for that. Differing opinions are what triggers debate, which is a good thing when done properly.
Thx for the info Lionsden

No worries. It's just how this site is. I'd like to talk a little hockey or issues pertaining to it, because I might not always agree with a poster it doesn't mean that we still can't debate some ideas without having to go back to the same old thing every thread.

apparently firlotte was on their roster right till just before the season started but they decided to bring in cheverie instead.basically said in the paper at the first of the year that they felt they were strong enough on the back end with the addition of Dyke so firlotte was the odd man out.really thought he would of been back based on feedback of his play.would of been nice to have theriault and firlotte with savage and asham as I don't think things have gone the way they planned with their d situation this year.guess the preference of bringing in cheverie was that he could play d and forward.PurpleandGold wrote:Flyers and Cats both were reduced an import this season....last year Flyers 4, Cats 3....this year Flyers 3, Cats 2....Flyers Iam sure would have loved to have Firlotte back but that's not how it played out

Let us assume that the flyers did want to avail of the services of Colin C. but could not because the cats would not allow it.......how liked are the flyers to release asham to play with the cats for the Allan cup or any other player for that matter.......same goes for any other team that the golden cats want to borrow a playe from
Heard it from the horses mouth. Paid to stay home. Makes you wonder why the league is in the shape that it is. I guess no one remembers why this league failed in the 80's.
Hard to understand the Cats logic here. If they let him go sign with another team (both gander and C Brook were interested) at least he would be playing all year and still would be available for the Allan Cup (and play downs). Now he is expected to suit up against players that have been skating all season long.
Am I missing something here?

hmmmm you bring up an interesting point for discussion there winterstorm....because the Cats found a loophole so they didn't have to release Circelli and chose to compensate him to stay home in a move which was meant it could be perceived as only really to hurt other teams....if you were running a NLSHL team how would you feel about releasing players to the Cats to help with their Allan Cup run? Thoughts?winterstorm wrote:Let us assume that the flyers did want to avail of the services of Colin C. but could not because the cats would not allow it.......how liked are the flyers to release asham to play with the cats for the Allan cup or any other player for that matter.......same goes for any other team that the golden cats want to borrow a playe from

Tomcod wrote:Its as etichical as the leauge we play in ... The flyers lost one of their imports for one game because he started a fight .. Look at the uproar & accuations it caused .. Wouldnt want to see them have to play all season long with one less import .. stay tuned ...PurpleandGold wrote:A very unique situation no doubt ....I would think Cats would prefer he played somewhere but that's not how it worked out for them ....coming in off long layoff at this caliber during a season is tough no matter how talented....see Brett Morrison with the Flyers last year prime example ....anyways a team paying a player to sit don't know where that falls on the ethics scale
....."ethics scale" ?????? lmao.

This is getting almost farcical. People talking about ethics. Before the season began three teams conspired to force the Cataracts who had one the Herder the two previous seasons to give up one of their top two players so that one of those teams could sign him to play against the Cataracts. Talk about ethics. Wouldn't happen in any other league. Imagine the other teams in the NHL being able to vote to force Chicago to.give up one of their best players to another team because they won the Cup last year. Only in the weak CWSHL would such an event be allowed. If the story about Circelli is true then one can hardly blame the Cataracts for protecting their interests against the predatory tactics of the other teams. Seems everyone is all upset that their scheme to steal Circelli from the Cats didn't work. Regardless of what ever arrangement might be in place, if there is one, if Circelli is fine with it, then it really isn't anybody's business. My understanding is that if he wanted to play with another team he could. The Cataracts couldn't stop him. They're not preventing anybody from playing hockey.
