The next step...
Now we are at the crossroads, the fork in the road if you will. Playoffs done, Herder done and finally Allan Cup done. What's next? I guess figuring out who is in next season and who is out. Even rumours of that fourth team coming out of the woodwork. Should be an interesting summer. As someone previously pointed out, Silverhawk perhaps, its best to get this stuff resolved sooner than later. No matter what the decision to move forward, it'll affect 3 teams worth of players in the CWSHL and 5 teams in the AESHL in the lesser regard. Interesting point will be imports. Would an import sign with Gander for example knowing the debacle this past season or sign on mainland although that's not much safer ground from what I hear. Fair questions. Can't wait for answers.
I read an article the other day about the new west coast league and the president or whomever said that they have had two teams contact them about joining the league next year. I half wonder if this is gfw & gander? They join west, bous join east, two 6 team leagues, east vs west herder?
I'm not convinced it's just a quick phone call and the Caribous join the AESHL. Lots of logistics to figure out if that were the case. Reading both Silverhawks and Ivan's comments I'm not convinced joining the AESHL is the aim right now and rightfully so. Who knows? Perhaps the CWSHL can be salvaged. Personally I like the 5 team AESHL with last placed team missing playoffs and all teams in the one division. I hope nothing changes for the 2017-18 season to be honest.timbits wrote:I read an article the other day about the new west coast league and the president or whomever said that they have had two teams contact them about joining the league next year. Yes for sure, just tossing some ideas out there. Regardless I just hope there is senior hockey to watch in all parts of the island next year. No matter what happens. I'm very interested to see what will happen.123 wrote:I'm not convinced it's just a quick phone call and the Caribous join the AESHL. Lots of logistics to figure out if that were the case. 123 stirring again I see..
you need not worry as you will not have any of your answers til October ..
As I stated to ya earlier the people volunteering there time and effort to raise funds will continue to so without any concern for the AESHL ..
Thus your pipe dream of player availability will have to wait til the second draft..

I think there is a number of interesting possibilities that could occur for next season. I don't believe for a second that the CWSHL/WCSHL is dead. I think with a few adjustments the league will be on its proper administrative footing.
I wonder about this trial run of WCSHL from last year. I don't believe that fan interest or the hockey is sustainable with the quality of the teams they had last year or will continue to get with the way the league rules are. I wonder if some of these communities use the success of last year to build a financial base and interest for a venture into the CWSHL again. Would be great to see two divisions GF< GAND> CVILLE and DL.CB.Stephenivlle
