They're actually the only team in Atlantic Canada that are registered as a AAA team.Doug Mathieson wrote:Clarenville is the only team in Newfoundland that registered as AAA.
If the league wished they all could register as AAA and send the current years champion
From what I was told Clarenville was the only team in Newfoundland that had the desire or the money to compete for the Cup.

Why does Hockey Canada allow NFLD to make an all-star team to play in the Allan Cup?
How many players with Clarenville at the Allan Cup right now, playing today, actually played with Clarenville when they won the Herder?
THE HERDER got nothing to do with the allan cup . a team has to apply for AAA status then they are allowed to pick one team in the province to affiliate with . if there is more then one team from the atlantic region then there has to be a play off to determine the rep for atlantic canada .
ie : if the bous are alliminated next year in the herder then they STILL can compete in the allan cup.
... isnt that right silverhawk ???

[quote="kwh4050"]so they can choose any 1 team from NFLD, doesn't matter if it's from the east or the west? I'm shocked that Hockey Canada hasn't stepped in yet... Either way I hope they win...
I wonder if Hockey Canada will step in when they realise that the Bous couldn't win the Herder but can DOMINATE the Allan Cup? Kinda funny
do you have a prob with the caribous or something? It don't care how many ceebee players we had and if we won the herder the year, We won it last year we had the right to go there this year, We are now 2011 allan cup champions, If u don't like that than to bad

So basically it doesnt matter what other team wins the Herder. unless its clarenville, they dont get to play for Allan cup. it could be confusing for some i guess ,but what im wondering is ,do all the other"AAA" teams across canada play in a mixed"AAA"/"AA" league as well. i personally dont mind it,im just curious.lol

.... all senior teams can apply for AAA status if that were the case then there would be a provincial play off and then a regional play off in order to be the atlantic rep .
correct me if i am wrong silverhawk . i HAVE been wrong before LOL .

I was actually under the impression it had nothign to do with the herder.. but from talking with a few others now.. there is a connection..
winning the herder LAST year gave the bous the right to proceed to the allan cup THIS year ... now I would ASSUME (MIGHT be wrong)..that becuse the cats won the herder THIS YEAR.. it gives them the right to go to the allan cup NEXT YEAR... BUT.. they MUST have a AAA status to do so as its a AAA championship..
I'm also lead to believe that if more than one team who is AAA wishes to attend the allan cup from the atlantic provinces, that a tournament must take place to declare a winner amonst those AAA teams (the same that happens elsewhere in canada)...

CaribousFan.... I have no problem with the Bous and I think it's great that they won.. I am just trying to figure out how it all works and what the rules are so you don't need to be an idiot about it. Getting a bit defensive aren't you, almost like you feel guilty about something.. I am from NFLD and grew up here my whole life but just moved back... I'm just wondering because the last time I heard anything about the Herder was when I had buddies that played for the Halifax Molson Canadians back in 2007... So thanks for the info but if you're going to be an idiot about it, I think you know what you can do with your info because I'm sure there are many other fans around that would respond in a much better fashion...
I really hope the Cats go next year because with their team, they would be a wrecking crew... Lets hope they get the AAA status and represent NFLD..
I saw someone say that a team represents the Atlantic Region.... So should their be a playdown with other provincial champs from NS, NB and PEI?
