What is all this nonsense about a visiting team expecting to have tickets for away games anyway...I think it is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of. As far as I am concened..unless there are any tickets left, all tickets should be sold to home teams fans first...how can I as a visiting fan expect to have tickets to another teams home rink before a fan from the community has had the opportunity to get one first...it is foolish. I hear ppl on hear saying that is is not right that such and such a rink only allows so many tickets for visiting fans...tough I say...the whole point of home team advantage is to have your rink filled with your home team fans....it is almost as if ppl feel it is their right to have tickets to put aside for visiting fans....I don't buy it...sure..if the building is not sold out from season ticket seat holders and there are extra tickets ...then by all means be like everyone else and try and get a ticket..but having this "rule" about so many tickets being put aside for another teams fans is nonsense in my opinion.

Now to add..this does not include playing in a neutral building like Mile one... where there is no actual home team building then absolutely all fans from both areans should be accommodated.
That is my two cents worth!

I gotta respectfully disagree with you there....

The teams die hard fans DO get first crack at tickets.. they're called holding seats & season passes.. as for a season pass.. fans buy it and they have ALL tickets for the regular season as well as first crack at playoff tickets... holding seats.. fans pay a fee to 'hold' their seat and then week to week get first crack to purchase the ticket for that seat... so to say fans don't get first chance to get tickets for home games is totally out to lunch..

Show me a sporting event that doesn't allow for visiting fans to come and support their travelling team?..

And just a little insight as to how the visiting fan tickets vs home fans wanting tickets actually works - at least in clarenville...

ticket orders are received the day PRIOR to the tickets going on sale to the public... ticket order is filled and any remaining tickets then go up for sale for the general public the followign day at noon.. the CEC is lucky to have over 1,000 standing room - so there are ALWAYS tickets available to our fans...

Saying away fans shouldn't get tickets.... easy enough to say until YOU want to be able to travel and support your team on the road.

Although I do agree with the need to hold a set amount of tickets for visiting teams, your post is not entirely correct here. In reference to the highlighted comment above, this maybe true as it relates to the CEC but not the Joe. There are not enough holding seats to accommodate the demand at the Joe, even though there are diehard fans who would love to purchase them so they have first right to playoff tickets and all tickets, they simply arent able to. There is a long list of people waiting to but holding seats. Those fans scramble from home game to home game to try to get tickets all year long and will have to continue with that effort in the playoffs, as the Cataracts will continue to hold 100 tickets for the visiting teams fans during playoffs.

And unfortunately, some of those diehard fans will be unsuccessful in their efforts.

Silverhawk...what are you talking about?

No one said that "sporting event that doesn't allow for visiting fans to come and support their travelling team?" and certainly I never said `away fans shouldn't get tickets.... easy enough to say until YOU want to be able to travel and support your team on the road.
I dont care if you want to travel and support your team...if you can get tickets. do so..but what I am saying is that the home team should not have to put so many tickets aside for the visiting team fans....it is foolish and ridiculous..obviously you never read my post clealy...if there are extra tickets left then by all means buy them and go support your team...but if there is none left don`t expect the home rink to supply them just bc you are a visiting fan. read what HockeyGooRoo wrote..maybe it will shed more light
