Heard that when, or if, the so called, Mt. Pearl Blades return to the NLSHL (next year), they "WILL" play out of the Jack Byrne Arena, under another name and Todd Gillingham will be the head coach. Anyone else hear anything about this, and what are peoples thoughts on a NLSH team playing out of this rink. The city of St. John's can't support a NLSHL team (i don't think), but maybe the out skirts of TOWN can!!!!! And Gilly has alot of connections for sponsors and players to bring in due to his hockey connections.

Wasn't Mount Pearl pretty much on the outskirts of St.Johns ? Id consider the east side of conception bay as well.

well i mean, closer to T-bay, outer cove, flat rock, etc... Towns that are building up their communities. I mean flat rock is considered a legend (or well should be) in the Sr. hockey cycles. I think the fan base would be there more then the pearl, or CBS ,manules, fox trap, etc...) The North east avalon is growing, and so is their interest in hockey. I think this could happen. But i am wondering if anybody else heard that there will be a team out of the J B next year, with Gilly Coaching???

With out the outside there will be no inside .. Let a team from T bay, flat rock or where ever come into the league it would be much better than a team from St Johns which can not support a team .. Who are we fooling here ,with out fans from out side the overpass there would not be a Ice Caps team plain and simple ..so why are we supporting a ream that is not from our area.. please don1t come back and say that it is better hockey because that is bs .. I have seen some games this year and as far as i am consern the AESHL is better not And by far the nshl is better , much more exciting and it is a team that is playing for our home town .. Come on Blades yes get a team on the go

Hope mount pearl get another chance to get their team back like deer lake did. Hope they can build a contender and draw somemore fans to make this league even more exciting. Be nice to see a 6 team league maybe 7 if another place is interested and is able to put in a team.
A new team in Torbay would be great. However if this happens they should have to start from scratch like Gander did this year. If they are not playing out of Mt. Pearl and don't have the Blades name then they are not the Mt. Pearl Blades, they are an expansion team. They should not have access to Mt. Pearl players from last year. All teams should be able to protect 25 players as well.

no need to worry because there will be no NSHL and you can take that to the bank.
