Correction, was done with fingers inserted into mouth. As per Gilly's own blog.Carbonear Canadiens wrote:I do believe this was done with a stick, not by the persons hands. I think it's already been talked about in the AESHL forum before the media said anything about it.

.... players have to quell their emotions and maintain respect for each other . i hope the injured player has a successful and speedy recovery .
todd gillingham has been a very prominent vollenteer for countless years . he is also a major driving force behind many charities . his selfless contributions over the last numerous years clearly defines his compassion and dedication for the comunitiy and in piticular, our youth .
.... how could one NOT view such great attributions with elated admiration ?
... hockey eyes what is your take on it ?

CC, it was a fish hook to the mouth. from behind. The players involved were D. Cadigan (got ripped for 3 stiches to the outside of the mouth and 1 stitch on the inside) and M Druken (was the agressor). it was after this incident that B. Clarke and G Jackman had a few punches at K. Mahoney, inwhich Mahoney ended up with a black eye. And coach W. Bray was not the coach that made the physical gestures and verbal comments towards Gilly. It was their asst coach M. Pritchard.
what clarke and druken now there's a shocker for you. i have been saying for years these two guys should not be allowed to play competive sports. dangerous guys, someone is going to get seriously hurt, druken and clarke are on opposite sides but man they should be suspended indefinitely just on their past history in hockey. maybe now something will be done with all the abuse that comes with a game of hockey. hockey is great to watch if it ran right. going to a game today is more full of anxiety then enjoyment. mile one got it down to science better referees, security and more ushers this might help us in our league.

both Clarke and Druken can play hockey. but its a dirty move when druken fish hooks a guy. clarke stood up for his teammate and done what should of been done (unwritten rules of hockey). They shouldnt be kicked out of the leauge by no means. If u looked at past history then there are allot of guys that should not play hockey. we cant go with past history. Players need to understand that there will be a price to pay for situations like this. There has to be a common respect between guys who fight and guys who dont. and what happened 1st was a goon fish hooked the best D man in the leauge. The other team needs to understand that there will be retaliation (spelling) on their best player also. Wither its the AESHL or the NLSHL, the AHL, or NHL and any team in between.

As you know superfan I don't comment on games I wasn't at but two different people at the game described the events exactly as I.R.A. related them . They added or at least one of them did that it was a nasty bit of business. According to them two different Eagles tried to get at Druken but he wouldn't go . WaQuan and Graham Jackman. I don't know of my own knowledge if that is so.
Both of the guys I spoke with last night at The Glacier said that contrary to what the Caps coach Wally Bray said there was a torrent of blood from Cadigan but it wasn't on the ice.
There is also talk of the Eagles hiring an " enforcer" to protect their skilled players. I hope the league doesn't go in that direction . Last night at the Glacier Mount Pearl beat the Caps 4-2 . There were four misconducts in that game although no fighting majors.
