Today I ask everyone to take a moment to reflect and remember a dear friend of NL Hockey Talk who lost his courageous battle one year ago today. Today we remember Tommy.

For those well versed with NL Hockey Talk, we all know Tommy was a colourful character who was a diehard Deer Lake Red Wings and Boston Bruins fan and supported hockey in the community and beyond. Tommy had an uncanny ability to know the in's and out's of hockey world in Newfoundland – many of us still don't know where he would get his information but it was spot on 99.9% of the time.

Despite some heated exchanges on the forum, and some pot stirring, Tommy had a heart of gold and was a huge supporter of the community and was always there for his friends and family. Today we join his wife Natasha, daughter Molly and the rest of his family and friends in remembering Tommy.

You are missed my friend.

I also remember Tommy very well. We too had many many heated discussions and yes out right arguements. I remember the first time I met him face to face and was surprised at the gentleman he was.

Blades I believe the game ur referring to at Mile One was between the Cats and Caribous. The Caribous had a private box and I was in charge of the tickets. Its a long story and I wont go into detail but Tommy did end up there right in the middle of a bunch of Caribous fans. I was floored when I realized he had gotten in there and actually had tickets! Like I said....long story! That was one that he always slapped up to me when ever we would argue after that!

Before he passed away he went to work out this way and we use to see each other quite a bit at a local pub that I frequent. We had many great talks and many were not about hockey. He often expressed to me how much he loved his family and friends and especially his daughter.

Hockey talk hasnt been the same since ........RIP Tommy Buffett!

Hard guy to win an argument against. No disputing that he knew his Hockey! I will sum it up this way. A few mts after he passed away, I noticed that in my friends folder, that there was ONLY one name. TOMMY! RIP my friend.

Has it been a year already? WOW! Life travels by so fast. I never met Tommy personally but we certainly had some lively conversations on this site over the years and you could not "one up' him. He always had a witty comeback and he seemed to always have the inside scoop on the league. He was a colorful character and he definitely put the "Talk" in NL Hockey. He is missed, not just by his family and friends, but by many people who have frequented this site.
If at first you don't succeed....PUCKIT!
