No doubt everyone can see it. Thing is what is the cwshl champs gonna do when they are threatened with suspensions for not participating. I wouldn't want to be the team executives that have to make that final callCatch 22 wrote:Everyone can see what HNL are trying to do. They will force the cwshl winner into bankruptcy by assuming some of the financial burdens that go along with playing for the herder in front of an empty mile one centre, or if the cwshl winner refuses not to play for the herder they will come down on that club with a long term suspension. In either case there will only be three of the four teams left in the cwshl next season which will cause a fold then Hnl finally gets what it has wanted for years, no senior hockey to manage off the Avalon.

What you described there geoguy is what is known as extortion which is highly illegal .
.... if they are threatened then the HNL rep who threatens the target is guilty of extortion .
The AESHL shall be responsible for their own barn be it the Jack Byrne ,Mile one or the Bell Center .
They are also responsible for their own travel , hotels and meals .
The very same applies to the CWSHL .
They are more than welcome to the show ; they just have to pay their OWN way .
And if Mile One sells out than the AESHL can have all the money .
That's a fair arrangement .

"Couple bricks short".....how ironic !!!
Here's a question (I really don't think you'll answer).......WHY DIDN'Y THE AESHL PLAY FOR THE HERDER IN THE LAST 2 SEASONS ???? Why is it different this year ?? I think it's due to the blades and ceebee's not being part of the league anymore. Answer please.......

Well, if you're expecting an answer from Hockey Eyes, don't hold your breath. The reason (IMO) is because there were avalon teams in the league with a chance to play for the herder, if they won. Without them, there's no chance, unless however, HNL can dream up some way to make it happen. They don't care who plays for it, as long as there's hockey in Mile One and they get to grab some of the spotlight and get a cut of the gate (before expenses of course). The reason there's hasn't been an official announcement in my opinion, is because the teams are NOT on board with this and HNL can't dream thier way out of this now while saving face and not causing any team a great financial lose. They WILL make the announcement soon and people will be pi$$ed. Time for a change withing HNL. Clean house, get some unbiased people in there that has the best interest of Hockey in Newfound AND Labrador as thier #1 agenda before is't all gone to sh!t !!!!!!!!

Easy answer, as Superfan stated above, Extortion.
Right now the HNL is fully aware that the budgets for teams like the Bous,Cats and Flyers are at an all time high. This is the most skilled hockey we have seen in senior hockey and that costs money. Attendance is down across the board so all CWSHL teams now are at their weakest. No team can afford to take a $30,000 loss and function next year. Therefore HNL puts on the pressure. This year you will play for the Herder in whats a garunteed bust. This will eliminate a CWSHL team for next year, that league folds and everyone gives up on senior hockey out here. A majority of the players are living in St Johns area, they all become players of the AESHL since it is the only game left running. HNL wins. No hockey outside of the overpass.
If the CWSHL champ refuses to play for the Herder, HNL suspends that team, were still down to 3 teams and the same process happens.
HNL deliberately waited until they had all CWSHL teams at their weakest financially and then stepped in with this absurd rules. Like you said, why not last year ? Teams had more money and attendance was higher.
Why not at the beginning of the season ??? Because HNL wanted to see how teams would do, as of Christmas attendance was down. Wait until they know all teams are hurting , then step in for the kill.
Anyone who believes this is the right thing to do is actually full of Sh!t.

Evan extortion is illegal .HNL can NOT force a team to pay for Mile One and or pay for the AESHL s
travel ,hotels and meals .
The west team can show up to Mile One , play their games and the East team can show up (at their OWN expense) to the west barn and play THEIR games .
HNL/AESHL can not force the west team to pay for expenses incurred by themselves .
HNL/AESHL are well awear of this and are going to try to sweet talk the CWSHL into some idiotic scheme that will cripple the CWSHL .
So again the CWSHL simply has to state that they will NOT be responsible for venues, travel and hotels that the AESHL is responsible for .
Like I said before ; "extortion is HIGHLY illegal " .
.... and that's the bottom line .
.... ALL RISE !!!!
