How much do you think we'll have to pay for the Eagle's bus?

Not as a main point in the present discussion...but, where was it decided that the Herder will be at Mile One in March? I don't think that detail has been determined.
The only agreed items ,(as I understand), is the length of the Final - 3 out of 5, with the two opening games in the venue(?) of AESHL Champion; and the dates - the two opening games commencing at "Avalon East" on Sat.March25th/Sun.March 26th. The final three games if necessary in the "Central West" venue on the weekend of Friday/Sat/Sun March 31st/April 1st/April 2nd...

I don't know if Mile One has been booked or not . Only The Eagles the CeeBees and Bell Island because they would play out of Paradise or CBS could host a Herder and make some money. Mile One offers money for everyone because of the sheer numbers. It only works if it is the opening games because there is a presumption the CWSHL is going to win. They did well last year at the Jack Byrne with attendance. This year the leagues should be a bit closer but not all teams like the notion of strengthening players. This is an amateur league out here and there is the sense that you have to " dance with the guys that brung ya".
Anyway the short answer is that if it is Mile One ..it must be booked by now.

From HockeyNL Calendar of Events March 25 & 26: Best 3 out of 5 series. Games 1 & 2 to be played at the winner of the AESHL. Games 3 (4 and 5 if necessary) to be played at the winner of the CWSHL March 31-April 2. So the West will get 1 game at home, and it will be on a Friday night, which will likely draw the lowest number of fans.

Yes the Ice Caps are in town, however take note that for some reason there's 4:00 start times both days. Interesting.

That is interesting . Thanks . They could fill Mile One or close to it for two games. Lots of money for all teams those in the Herder and those not.

For the sake of magnanimity Flyer24, no one knows as you presume that the third game is the final game. On the principle "that anything can happen in sports", three games are possible from March 31st-April 2nd from Friday-Sunday, since a priori, the outcomes of the first two games cannot be known before they even happen. The Friday 'third game' start is a standard established scheduling pattern from all past playoffs in 3 out of 5 series in the CWSHL.
Thus Friday is the start day for game 3. But, though you submit that game "will likely draw the lowest number of fans", I would expect, that, if that is potentially the final game - assuming the CWSHL team has won the first two, as you imply - the Friday night game will be blocked not as you guess as 'drawing' the lowest numbers. If a Championship trophy is actually on the line for that game, I have no doubt the venue with that in the balance will be buzzing and blocked!

E. Herder Competition

The Senior Council members then left the meeting in order for teams to discuss the specific issue of revenue
sharing and then returned once discussion had finalized.
During the team’s in-camera session, an agreed upon arrangement was presented regarding the
2016/17 Herder Memorial Championship Finals.

The agreed upon terms included the following:
i. Best four (4) out of seven (7) Herder Memorial Championship series between the
championship teams from both leagues;

ii. The AESHL will host games 1, 2, 6 and 7, with dates to be confirmed and the CWSHL champion will host games 3, 4 and 5, with dates to be confirmed;

iii. The number of strengthening players permitted by the Avalon East winning team will be
determined at the Fall Meeting;

iv. Each League will retain the revenue associated with their home games and agree to evenly
split any potential game seven (7) revenues, after HNL expenses have been deducted.

Sounds like the usual conflict to me. Agree on one thing at the agm then advertise something different in your event calendar. And people like hockey eyes wonder why there's no faith in hockey Newfoundland and Labrador.

So what is it? The agreed on 7 game series or the advertised 5 game series

Geoguy: What you quoted re the "E Herder Competition" were the playoff arrangements reviewed at the June HNL Meeting, and the 4 out of 7 playoff format reference is to that item in the June Meeting Minutes of in camera talk between HNL and the two Leagues during the June Meeting. The "HockeyNL Calendar of Events" that you also referenced is indeed the current FINALIZED Herder 3 out of 5 agreement made by the two Leagues and HNL following from the Fall HNL Meetings in September. Thus, there is no "conflict" as you feared... there is no situation where "one thing at the AGM then advertise something different in your event calendar..."
We are all good for a 3 out of 5 Herder, beginning on Sat.March 25th at "Avalon East" venue - whatever 'venue' is eventually confirmed as the venue by AESHL (and HNL ) the hosting League and their League champion.
