What is the shape of a hockey puck?: triangle

REFS wouldn't hurt either    . Today was rediculous for both sides. Calls made that were questionable while blatent infractions were left uncalled. The stick is not supposed to interfere with a player in any way but it happened a lot today FOR BOTH TEAMS befiore any shore fans attack me. Chopping, slashing, sticks between the legs (can opener i think its called) was happening all day. No flow to the game at all. Good job by the Shore though. Cya ya Saturday.

I didn't really see the puck enter the net but did see it hit the netting above the end glass. Apprently the call was it went through the net and hit the netting at the back.

Sorry, not sure I understand the play as you described. Perhaps I am tired after losing that hour's sleep last night.

I only saw the puck hit the netting that keeps it from going into the fans. It LOOKED like it went over the net. But the call was it went throught the net in the same spot that Sparkes scored last week and then up onto the netting.

Last weekend Sparkes scored and it was clearly in but it was not counted as Referee did not see it. Today ( Sunday March 14 ) Dalton scored but it was not counted as Referee did not see it go in. Fans for both the Cee Bees and Breakers said it was in the net, those standing in that area, and this happened on both goals. Soon that will happen in an overtime game and a series could be lost for a missed goal by the on ice officials. To avoid this from occurring I think Goal Judges should be used.
As good as an idea this is,I don't see it working.......I've been involved with hockey a long time, and never actually saw a ref reverse his decision on a no goal after consulting a goal judge....not too say that some of them wouldn't.... most of them (not all )are too arrogant to even consult the goal judge on a questionable goal or no goal......Most of you saw for yourself last Sunday,on sparkes goal (and it was a goal) how arrogant the ref was, even after being asked by the players to at least check the net for a hole.....unbelievable to not even check the net.

You're right. The ref said the goal went right through the same hole that Sparkes' non-call went through last Sunday. But I don't think it did this time. Again, as I was last Sunday, sat in that end with perfect view. This time the puck went up over the crossbar and went into the safety netting over the glass. Think they would have fixed the hole before the game after last week, but they were quick to fix it right after that goal.

i'm absolutley flabergasted here....................................No goal judges???????????????????????????? I can't be that hard to get someone to sit on a stool and push a button when a goal is scored..........................................Offer a couple of young guys free passes into the games....................that should work.........................still have a great view of the game.....................

I think it is a good idea as well. There are a few issues to straighten out. I'm sure a goal judge would have to be a referee as they will have a say in whether it is a goal or not. This will cost money to have 2 more officials present at the game. Besides the fact that it may not be that easy to find referee's that are willing to be a goal judge. It is not as simple as asking Joe Blow to sit behind the net and flick the light on when he feels like it.

Goal judges are not used to change the referee's mind, the purpose of a goal judge is to assist the referee in making the correct call, ie. turn the light when the puck crosses the goal line and enters the net. The goal judge doesn't change the referee's mind, he confirms for the referee that the puck did indeed enter the net.

As for comments about the ref saying the the puck went through the same hole that was created a week prior in AESHL final, I have my doubts this comment was made. Unless someone here was a part of the conversation, which would mean you were one of the officials on the ice or a player from the Shore or Cee Bees, then I doubt anyone can make that comment with 100% certainty and it is probably hearsay. I'm sure these nets had been used in between these two games and it could have gotten there anytime throughout the week. Not to mention, I don't think (if I'm wrong then forgive me) it was the same ref that did these 2 games so how does this ref know it was the same hole.

I do think that the linesmen should do a better job of scanning the nets prior to the game and at the start of each period to make sure there are no holes and to fix whatever holes are there. This would cut down on these situations. After all, this is their job.
