After being released by the Corner Brook Royals, Zack Firlotte is back in action, signing with the Gander Flyers in the Central West Newfoundland Senior Hockey League last week. Firlotte was signed by the Purple & Gold squad after they released Nick Theriault because he notified the team he would be unavailable for the majority of games this season.
Firlotte was a solid defenseman for the Royals last season, logging a majority of ice time and anchoring the Royals defensive squad through the playoffs. However, the Royals had opted to build a different style of team this year to make a run at the Herder and Firlotte did not fit into the picture.
Standing just over 6′ and weighing in at 210 lbs, Firlotte will lead the Flyers’ defensive squad this season, bringing both skill and toughness in their own end.
