The Corner Brook Royals have rebuilt their team and have added a mixture of talent throughout the lineup. They have dramatically improved on the defensive back end and Bryan Gillis is playing amazing between the pipes so far. However, the Royals snipers need to start scoring.
The Royals center Michael Hynes and is the top goal scorer with three goals and import Phil Mangan is next with just 2 goals. Derek Martin, Matt Bragg and Brandon Nicholas all have 2 goals each as well. At the beginning of the season they pinned hopes on snipers Hunter Tremblay and Chris Hulit after trading their leading goal scorer Justin Barbour to the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts. However, both Tremblay and Hulit are struggling, with Tremblay adding just 1 goal so far in six games this season.
Bragg, Martin and Nicholas have been impressive so far this season and have been critical in the Royals improvement in their defense statistics.

All these players are playing a great two-way game and hustling back to prevent odd-man rushes. They show great work ethic and have been the key to Royals three splits so far this season.

The Corner Brook Royals Mark Robinson also has the potential to score. Robinson has been used sparingly so far this season but he has contributed on the score sheet and has started taking position in front of the net during the power play. With his hands and experience it is only a matter of time before he starts scoring. He also has to start stepping up and helping the younger players in the lineup work through their current scoring slump and remain calm until things start clicking.
There are still a lot of games to play. The season is only early and the Royals have not yet reached panic time. They head into this weekend playing the Gander Flyers. The Flyers are also rebuilding and struggling so far this season as they sit in last place in the four team league. The Royals have to stick to the game plan that has delivered them 3 great weekends of hockey and have their snipers work on the basics and getting into position to score.
Given their improvement on the defense and in net, if this happens the Royals will be a force to be reckoned with in the league.
