Corner Brook Royals import & forward Ryan Salvis was released from the Grand Falls-Windsor Hospital today and boarded a plane back to his hometown and his family.
Early in the second period, Salvis and Cataracts defenseman Rodi Short were battling for puck that had been dumped in behind the Cataracts net. Both players were in full stride and Salvis pulled a few feet ahead of Short. Short gave Salvis a shove to move him off the puck. The speed of the play left Salvis vulnerable and he crashed heavily into the boards with Short’s momentum carrying him briefly into Salvis. It was very obvious that Salvis was in distress as he laid on the ice, motionless for a brief period of time.
Being released from the hospital today is good news for the Royals player but speculation is that he is finished for the playoffs.
The Corner Brook Royals have yet to issue an official statement as to the extent of Salvis’ injury.
