St. John’s Junior Hockey Action

The Mount Pearl Blades have taken a 2-0 series lead in the St. John’s Junior Hockey League quarter final with a 6-1 victory over the Junior Celtics.

Mount Pearl got production from Daniel Toope (2G), Andrew Pollard, Bobby Upshall, Grant Thompson and Wesley Fox.  The Celtics lone marker came from Tyler Bennett.

The Mount Pearl Blades out shot the Celtics 37-17, with their goalie Brett Davies getting the win while Brandon Short of the Celtics was tagged with the loss.

Players of the game honours were given to Bobby Upshall from Mount Pearl and Tyler Bennet of Celtics.

In other league action, the St. John’s Junior Caps and Avalon Capitals are deadlocked in their series at 1-1.

St. John’s got the victory to tie the series with a 5-3 win over the Capitals.  Joey Trenholm got the hat trick for the St. John’s Junior Caps, with his teammates Grant Nolan and Robbie Everson picking up singles.  Brett Vokey picked up a hat trick for the Capitals.

St. John’s secure the victory despite being out shot 48-35, with Redmond Hunt coming up big in the net for the Caps squad.  Aaron Small was in net for the Capitals.

Joey Trenholm & Brett Vokey were named players of the game for their respective teams.
