The St. John’s IceCaps dropped a 3-2 decision to the Toronto Marlies in AHL action at Mile One Stadium. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, the Marlies hung on for the win.
In the opening frame, the Marlies dominated play, keeping the IceCaps bottled up for most of the period. Toronto’s Granberg started the scoring with a goal early in the first period, scoring on a redirect at 1:21. Just two minutes laster, the Marlies Holland scored on the power play, giving the Toronto squad a 2-0 lead.
The second period picked up where the first ended as the Marlies once again dominated play, out shooting the IceCaps 16-7.
