Mercer Leads Voltigeurs to Win

Bay Roberts’ own Dawson Mercer led the Drummondville Voltigeurs to another victory, as they dumped the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday night.  Mercer was selected as the games first star, picking up a goal and 2 assists, bringing his season total to 27 points (14G/13A) in just 17 games.

Drummondville jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 2-minute mark of the first period when Isiah Campbell scored a shorthanded goal.  Dawson Mercer picked up his first assist of the night.  Then at 13:37 of the first, the Voltigeurs went up 2-0 as Thimo Nickl scored on the power play.  Mercer picked up his second assist of the night.  The Huskies pulled within one as Tyler Hinam scored at 15:49, make it 2-1 after the first period.

The Huskies evened the score at 2-2 when Alex Beaucage scored his 13th of the season at the 5:52 mark of the second period.  The Voltigeurs would then go on to score 3 unanswered goals, including Dawson Mercer’s 14th of the season.

The Drummondville Voltigeurs record sits at 11-6-0-0 so far this season.
