Two local Newfoundland hockey players have been given the opportunity to be a part of the Canadian National Junior Hockey Team. Alex Newhook of St. John’s and Dawson Mercer of Bay Roberts have both been invited to the national selection camp that is scheduled to take place from December 9th-12th in Oakville, Ontario.

Newhook is playing hockey with Boston College and has amassed 11 points (6G/5A). Mercer is playing with the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the QMJHL and has accumulated 36 points (17G/19A) in just 23 games.

Mercer has also been ranked 16th overall by NHL central scouting.
