Dawson Mercer, a native of Bay Roberts, has survived the final round of cuts and has made the men’s team roster.
Mercer has been rated to go in the first round of the upcoming NHL Entry Draft and after a strong showing at training camp here in Canada, he surived the early rounds of cuts. The 18-year old wrapped up training camp in the Czech Republic. On Thursday, he scored for Canada as the Canadian team defeated Switzerland 3-0 in an exhibition game.
With Team Canada slated to be in action on Thursday against the United States, you can be there will be many eyes glued to watch Mercer hit the ice, representing Canada and more importantly, Newfoundland.
