Wings Defeat Royals in Shoot-out

The Deer Lake Red Wings won 5-4 over the Corner Brook Royals in overtime to keep its undefeated streak alive this season in the West Coast Senior Hockey League.

The Royals jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period when Matthew Colbourne scored at 13:45.

The Red Wings Lucas McKay scored at the 36 second mark of the second period to tie the game. The Royals took the lead again when Joshua Taylor scored at the 7:25 mark to give the Corner Brook team a 2-1 lead. The Red Wings tied the score once again when Luke Parsons tallied a power play goal at 10:48. Scott Delaney of the Royals gave the Corner Brook crew a 3-2 lead after two periods when he scored at the 17:31 mark of the second.

The Royals would take a 4-2 lead at the 1:44 mark of the third period when William Keating scored to make it 4-2 Royals. The Red Wings Drew Langdon scored at the 16:19 mark to bring the Wings within one goal. Late in the third period, the Royals Joshua Taylor took a 2-minute minor for a hit to the head and the Red Wings made the Corner Brook squad pay when Luke Parsons scored on the power play to tie the game at 4.

Drew Langdon would later give the Wings the lead with a nifty move on the Corner Brook goaltender Bradley Power to give Deer Lake the win.

Deer Lake’s goalie Billy Clark made 58 saves for the win. The Royals goalie Bradley power stopped 55 saves in the loss.
