Play in hte East Coast Senior Hockey League (ECSHL) continued after the Christmas break with a game between the St. John’s Caps and the Northeast Eagles.

The Caps took a 1-0 lead into the dressing room after the first period. The Eagles stormed back in the second period, netting 3 goals and giving them a 3-2 lead after two periods. The Caps tied it up in the third and forced overtime.

Kyle McGrath of the Caps buried the game winning goal at 3:58 of the overtime period, lifting the St. John’s team to a 4-3 OT win.

Ryan Hawco, Jordan Freake and Jordan Escott scored goals for the Caps. Chris Blackwood, Stephen Morrissey and Liam Myers scored for the Eagles.

In other action on Friday night, the Conception Bay Blues dumped the Clarenville Caribous by a score of 7-3.

The game was tied after the first period as the teams traded goals. The Blues took a 2-1 lead into the dressing room after 2 periods but then 5 goals in the third to outlast the Clarenville squad.

Lee Dower, Brandon Burry and Drake Dower scored for the winning Blues. Chad Earle scored twice for the Caribous.

The Conception Bay Blues dumped the Cee Bee Stars 6-0.

Matthew Jenkins made 30 saves for the shut-out win. Kyle Tibbo and Brandon Burry both scored two goals for the Blues while teammates Nick David and Brandon O’Neill scored singles.
