The North East Eagles edged the St. John’s Caps 2-1 in Avalon East Senior Hockey League action. The Eagles Dan Cadigan scored the game winner at 3:21 of the third period to give the Eagles the victory.
The Eagles started the scoring when Mason Reid scored in the first period.
After a scoreless second period, the Caps Matthew Fewer tied the game at 1:56 of the third period.
It was a game where specialty teams failed to capitalize on their opportunities as the Eagles went 0-4 on the powerplay and the Caps 0-7.
